We are seeking a Research Assistant Intern to join our Professional Services team and support projects for the National Center for Education (NCES). This position is based in our Washington, DC office.

Responsibilities

• Assist staff in the review, identification and development of scholarly information describing research findings
• Participate in the collection, analysis, and reporting of national and international data sets using online analysis tools and potentially statistical software
• Develop spreadsheets and data bases to support project activities
• Participate in internal client meetings to discuss the process and planning of national publications released by the National Center for Education Statistics (NCES)
• Analyze quantitative research data and contribute to the reporting and interpretation of findings
• Assist in the creation of social media content and images based on the NCES statistical reports

Qualifications

• Currently seeking a Bachelor’s degree in such fields as economics, psychology, sociology, statistics, public policy, or other social science related fields.
• Experience with and / or knowledge of data collection and analysis methodologies and techniques, such as survey design and analysis of program administrative data
• Ability to use statistical software programs such as R, SPSS, or Stata to analyze data – a plus (not required)
• Strong writing and oral communication skills
• Attention to detail
• Proficiency with the Microsoft Office Suite or the equivalent, specifically Microsoft Excel
• Ability to work independently and as a member of a team
