    American Institutes for Research (AIR) is currently seeking a Financial Reporting Associate to join our Corporate Finance Office in Washington, D.C. (Georgetown).     The Financial Reporting Associate position is part of the Financial Reporting and Analysis (FRA) team. An integral part of FRA team’s responsibilities is to prepare corporate financial reports in compliance with applicable rules and regulations and for AIR’s business units, management, and board of directors. The FRA team strives to build robust financial reporting practice in order to deliver exceptional customer services and high-quality work products. The selected candidate will work alongside experienced accounting/financial professionals and have opportunities to pursuit mutual, long-term career development goals.


    The selected candidate will support all aspects of AIR’s accounting and financial reporting processes, which will include but not be limited to the following:
    • Maintain common accounting processes, such as monthly closing and reporting.
    • Assist preparation of annual GAAP financial statements and footnote disclosures, including subsidiary-standalone and consolidated financial statements.
    • Support month-end and year-end closing.
    • Participate in IRS Form 990 preparation and state compliance filings.
    • Perform reconciliation of and internal controls over AIR’s investment portfolio activities.
    • Support accounting and financial reporting aspects of AIR's ongoing M&A activities.
    • Prepare schedules for the incurred cost submission to AIR’s Federal Cognizance Agency.
    • Maintain chart of accounts and cost pools in Deltek-Costpoint.
    • Provide regular feedback for process improvement initiatives.


    • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting.
    • 3 - 4 years of experience in accounting, preferably public accounting experience.
    • CPA/CPA candidate strongly preferred.
    • Experience with government contracting organizations preferred.
    • Strong knowledge of GAAP.
    • Experience with Deltek-Costpoint strongly preferred.
    • Ability to work with deadlines and handle competing priorities.
    • Excellent communication (verbal and written) and collaboration skills.
    • Exceptional research, analytical and problem-solving abilities.
