AIR currently has an opportunity for a General Accounting Specialist in the Corporate Finance Office. This position is an integral part of the General Accounting Team and will take responsibility for performing financial closing procedures as well as conducting general accounting duties. This position can be located in AIR's Washington, D.C. or Rockville, Maryland office.
• Perform financial closing procedures • Prepare internal, external, and regulatory reports on a monthly, quarterly, and annual basis • Review financial reports for completeness and accuracy • Process accounting transactions, collect and analyse accounting data, analyze business results, and develop management reports • Make daily decisions concerning the accounting treatment of financial transactions and recommend solutions to complex accounting matters • Conduct general ledger account analysis and maintenance • Ensure financial policies and procedures are followed and monitor adherence to internal controls • Independently troubleshoot and take appropriate corrective actions • Provide guidance and assistance to junior accountants • Work with external auditors to fulfill audit requests • Other accounting-based projects and analysis
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting with a minimum 4-7 years of experience in accounting field • Demonstrated ability to provide high levels of customer service in a dynamic environment • Strong Microsoft Office skills, especially Excel • Detail orientation with outstanding analytical skills • Ability to apply comprehensive knowledge of GAAP to complex transactions • Excellent problem solving skills • Experience with Deltek Costpoint required • CPA desirable
