    The Director of Technology Solutions will define and implement solutions that support AIR and its mission, working with teams to define the appropriate solution, architect the solution, and oversee implementations. In this role, you will provide understanding of market trends and how they can impact AIR’s mission. The director needs to bring experience and strong understanding of processes and best practices to guide teams in solutions architectures and implementations of varied technologies, including custom development, integrations of different technologies, database and data analytics, etc. This position is located in the Washington, D.C. area.


    The Director of Technology is responsible for leading a team of approximately 15 technologists and providing thought leadership, solution definition, architecture, and implementation oversight to technical projects. The technology director is responsible for all parts of the IT lifecycle, identifying and understanding client needs, defining solutions, and leading their implementations, in addition to helping to identify and pursue opportunities that involve technological solutions. The director of technology will:
    • Define, review, and lead implementations of technological solutions across a breadth of areas, including recruiting, learning, website design and development, data warehousing and data analytics
    • Work with clients to understand and oversee implementation of solutions that solve client needs
    • Work with potential and existing partners and internal stakeholders to identify the best solutions to meet requirements and further AIR’s mission
    • Lead a team that supports clients in the definition and implementation of solutions and provide best practices and processes to establish strong working practices
    • Actively manage employee growth and engagement, set milestones and goals, and provide constructive feedback
    • Identify architecture solution alternatives, driving business requirements, and availability of new technologies
    • Identify emerging technologies and tools to support architecture(s) and determine architectural roadmaps
    • Define and obtain buy-in to the technology and data analytics solutions to grow the business opportunities and support the definition of the technical strategy
    • Create and ensure compliance of architectural principles, policies and processes
    • Participate in the definition of new opportunities and writing of proposals
    • Oversee large, complex projects; approve plans; consult with project leadership and stakeholders
    • Create, promote and ensure compliance of architectural principles, policies and processes
    • Provide technical solutions support for data analytics strategy
    • Understand and apply data science and analytics methods and tools


    • Bachelor’s degree and more than 15 years of experience; Master’s degree preferred
    • Experience with lifecycles for development of technology-focused architectures and solutions
    • Experience and knowledge of technologies in the space of data analytics, digital implementations, knowledge management, and development of mobile capabilities
    • Strong writing, presentation, and communication skills required
    • Strong process focus to support development and operational needs of the organization
    • Knowledge of and experience with Federal, state and local government clients and datasets
    • Excellent understanding of current web, mobile, and data science landscape
    • Works effectively with technical and non-technical staff
    • Prior experience identifying and working with partners
    • Prior professional services and consulting experience a plus
