We design and build things that are inspiring and make a real impact in the online testing industry. We are currently seeking a Web Designer to join our team in the Washington, DC office.
The Web Designer will be a part of our Interaction Design Team, assisting with lead designers on large, high-profile, online assessment systems. We’re looking for a strong generalist with experience in both traditional Web Design (UI/UX, Adobe Creative Cloud, accessibility), and Development (HTML, CSS, JQuery). We like to think of the proper candidate as a front-end mechanic and developer more than a designer. You will be responsible for coding and maintaining large systems that are built to support multiple browsers and mobile devices – and millions of users!
Essential Job Functions: 1. Develops, creates and integrates website layouts/user interface from provided design concepts. 2. Designs, modifies, develops, writes and implements UI components. 3. Serves as accessibility advocate to design, code, and preach accessible UI. 4. Troubleshoot UI issues in dynamic, web-based applications on a variety of browsers and operating systems and mobile devices. 5. Provides feedback to Project Managers and developers on UI/UX best practice.
Qualifications: • Bachelor’s Degree in Graphic Design, Computer Science or related degree and 4+ years of experience • Expert working knowledge of HTML5 and CSS3. • Strong working knowledge in coding WCAG2.0 compliant websites. • Experienced in coding with JQuery and using UI libraries for interactive HTML mockups. • High attention to detail and excellent time management. • Excellent analytical and critical thinking skills. • Quick aptitude for learning new software. • Experience with Versioning Systems. • Experience with Visual Studio a plus.
