AIR is currently searching for a User Experience (UX) Lead to join our team in the Washington, DC, area. The UX Lead will lead client engagements to elicit requirements through user experience designs, provide UX services to the organization, create visual design mockups, support proposal development, etc., for well-organized, user-friendly, mobile responsive/adaptive web sites and other software solutions. The UX Lead will be familiar with different approaches to engage audiences, and have a breadth of experience in user experience, iterative development of concepts and websites, content strategy and management, and industry trends. It is expected that the UX Lead will establish strong UX practices and services that can be understood and used by clients and projects as a starting point to utilizing strong user-experience principles.
The user experience designer is a key member of the technology solutions team to ensure proper human systems integration for the software and systems that we deliver. • Leads and facilitates a multi-disciplinary team through each stage of the design process to create visually compelling designs of interactive content and navigation for online and mobile solutions. • Works directly with external clients to identify requirements and visualize them through wireframes and mock-ups or proofs of concept. • Creates interaction models, user task flows, screen designs, and UI details that promote ease of use and optimize task flows. • Collaborates with designers in the application of color, typography, UI elements to create elegant solutions to complex problems, with the ability to communicate design solutions to stakeholders. • Collaborates with project teams to clearly define user experience requirements, personas, user scenarios, journey maps. • Contributes to ideation and sketching sessions, storyboards, prototyping and usability testing to create comprehensive wireframe systems. • Has excellent interpersonal communications and presentation skills at stakeholder review meetings and fosters a friendly critique session in order to come up with a great design. Defends and provides rationalization for design choices to stakeholders. • Mentors team members to grow and hone their skills to unleash their best work. • Creates and delivers UX/UI design documentation to aid with cross-team communication, collaboration and development. • Plays an active role in the identification and recommendation of future site improvements through awareness and understanding of site metrics, site-wide information architecture and industry best practices. • Creates estimates and writes proposals to support bids requiring UI/UX, content strategy, and design solutions. • Prepares service offerings and trains teams on the use and value of these services to promote the use of UX best practices.
• 10+ years in UX, UI Design • Bachelor’s Degree Required • Take a strategic approach to conveying "big ideas" by crafting the most strategically creative solution within a rapidly evolving interactive space • Innovative creative thinker with in-depth knowledge of UX Design for a variety of online experiences • Team player with great communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills • Ability to apply creative thinking to technology issues including a passion for cutting edge web development • Well-organized with the ability to simultaneously work on multiple projects under strict deadlines • Works effectively with cross functional team of developers, designers, and non-technical staff • Strong written skills • Ability to research and evaluate industry trends and apply them to a project environment
