Join AIR as a Project Assistant with our Workforce Development program area, as we support the healthy, productive, and evolving workforce vital to the United States’ economy and democracy. We work together towards addressing structural barriers in the workforce across race, class, and gender. We provide rigorous research and evaluation, and results-driven technical assistance and training throughout the United States at all levels of the system.

 

The Project Assistant will work on a national, high stakes testing project, the Medical College Admission Test (MCAT), helping to ensure the timeliness, accuracy and quality of the delivery of test items and other project deliverables. Candidates hired for the position may work remotely within the United States (U.S.) or from one of our U.S. office locations. This does not include U.S. territories.

Responsibilities

The responsibilities for the position include:

  • Perform quality control reviews of project-related materials to improve consistency/correctness of information, data, conformity to grammatical principles and style guidelines, and logic/consistency/readability of language.
  • Maintain and develop standard processes and procedures for effective project support services and implement and utilize planning, scheduling, and tracking tools and systems.
  • Assist leadership team with activities related to staffing and communication.
  • Formulate standard administrative documents; prepare routine correspondence, and draft custom correspondence.
  • Provide project coordination for projects with multiple timelines, budgets, and program inputs.
  • Plan and manage own work time to ensure that assignments are completed in an efficient and effective manner and that work is timely, of high quality, and accurate. Appropriately seek guidance/direction. Comply with directions, policies and procedures. Work cooperatively with others in planning and executing tasks and in transitioning work as necessary.
  • Work collaboratively with internal and external team members to resolve issues.

Qualifications

Education, Knowledge, and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in English, social sciences or related field
  • Excellent proofreading, editing, language, and analytic skills
  • Previous technical proofreading or copy-editing experience required
  • Experience using or willingness to learn Airtable
  • Experience in assessment and/or with physical sciences is a plus but not required
  • Project coordination and or assessment experience is a plus but but not required

Skills:

  • Strong communication skills with the ability to collaborate with individuals at all levels and from diverse backgrounds in a virtual work environment 
  • Ability to focus on details within a complex document
  • Ability to organize work and follow through on assignments independently
  • Ability to adapt to changing deadlines and work priorities
  • Proficiency within Windows environment and with Microsoft Office Suite, specifically Word and Excel
  • Efficient organization, time management, and writing skills

Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the U.S. on a full-time basis. Employment-based visa sponsorship (including H-1B sponsorship) is not available for this position. Depending on project work, qualified candidates may need to meet certain residency requirements.

AIR’s Total Rewards Program, is designed to reward our staff competitively and motivate them to achieve our critical mission. This position offers an anticipated salary of $26.00/hr. Salary offers are made based on internal equity within the institution and external equity with competitive markets. Please note this is the annual salary range for candidates that are based in the United States.
