Funded and administered by the U.S. Department of Justice’s Bureau of Justice Assistance (BJA), the National Reentry Resource Center (NRRC) is the nation’s primary source of information and guidance in reentry.    As part of the project, the NRRC hosts two clearinghouse resources to support the reentry field:   (1) Clean Slate Clearinghouse provides information on juvenile and adult criminal record clearance policies in all U.S. state and territories and is designed for use by people with criminal records, legal service providers, reentry providers, and state policymakers.   (2) National Inventory of Collateral Consequences of Conviction is an online searchable database that identifies and categorizes the statutes and regulations that impose collateral consequences in all 50 states, the federal system, and the District of Columbia, U.S. Virgin Islands, and Puerto Rico.   AIR is seeking current law school students to update state laws and regulations for the 2019 2020, and 2021 legislative sessions across each state (all 50 + DC, Puerto Rico). Individuals would be responsible for searching LexisNexis using a pre-defined search string to review state laws and regulations to determine applicability as a collateral consequence or related to criminal records clearance and whether results represent (1) an update to current laws/regulations or (2) new laws/regulations. Individuals would also review existing inventories to identify any laws or regulations that no longer exist or no longer apply for each state.

Our mission is to generate and use rigorous evidence that contributes to a better, more equitable world.   AIR’s Youth, Family, and Community Development (YFCD) program area is seeking a full-time Technical Assistance (TA) Consultant. The primary responsibility of the TA Consultant (65-75% time) will be to serve as a trainer, delivering the DoD SPARX Knowledge training to members of the military’s prevention workforce. The secondary responsibility of the TA Consultant (25-35% time) will be to support one or more other projects in the YFCD program area. The TA Consultant will initially work remotely but will eventually have the option to choose between working in one of AIR’s offices or working remotely.   The Department of Defense (DoD) Sexual Assault Prevention and Response Office (SAPRO) initially developed the DoD SPARX Knowledge to build the capacity of the military’s prevention workforce to engage in primary prevention of sexual assault. The curriculum was later revised and expanded to include a broader focus on prevention of self-directed harm (i.e., suicide) and prohibited abusive and harmful acts (i.e., sexual assault, harassment, child abuse and neglect, domestic abuse, substance abuse). These behaviors negatively impact many areas of military life, including mission readiness, command climate, physical health, and the well-being of individuals and their families.   The TA Consultant will be invited to work on at least one other AIR project that aligns with their experience, expertise, and interests. For example, expertise in the following areas would be particularly relevant: mental health promotion, community violence prevention, trauma-informed approaches, and health equity.   The TA Consultant will serve as an expert on the public health approach to prevention. Primary prevention will be the main focus of training and TA.   This position will not require travel. The DoD SPARX Knowledge training is a synchronous online training, which is delivered by a team of trainers in a virtual classroom format. Travel for other projects will be optional.
